Send me your photos!

I would like to feature you, my readers and fans on my website! I have received several photos of the books they have gotten, but I think it is the reader who should get the spotlight.

I’m creating a section just for you and I was wondering if you could send me pictures of you holding up my book. Get creative, have fun with it. I want to showcase the real stars of the show: You the reader! email them to me here at hn@hnklett.com or send it through the various social media sites. I hope to start posting them shortly.

Side note: Check out this awesome promo pic that my designer Carrie at madeyoublink.com made! If you need freelance graphic design, look her up!

Until next time!

Friends of the Greensboro Public Library

I had a delightful time at the Friends of The Greensboro Public Library Annual Luncheon yesterday at the beautiful Revolution Mill. I had the chance to meet and talk with several of the supporters and to top it off, I got to hear the amazing Lisa Lucas, Executive Director of the National Book Foundation,  to discuss with us her views on the literary world. She was delightfully candid and amazingly engaging, I can definitely see why she is the youngest Executive Director in their history, the woman is amazing! She is far from snobbish and adores reading. Most surprisingly has no biases against genre fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, mystery) or even comics, something rare in the world of the Literati

Me and the wonderful Lisa Lucas

Afterward, I was able to sneak over and ask her about the future of the National Book Awards relating to the rise of Independent Publishers (like myself). She let me know that she just met with the Independent Publisher’s Association and they are working on an award category for future National Book Awards, which is HUGE! I can’t wait to see what good things she has in store for the awards!

Oh the places you will go…

Hi, everyone!

Thank you all for reaching out to me with such kind words and praise for my latest book Pirate Queen: Book of the Navigator! It has been such a wonderful experience and the word is getting out quickly!

In the press:

I had originally intended just a “soft launch” with little trumpet and fanfare to make sure that distribution channels were ready and reviews would come in but it looks like this book has a life of its own! The local paper, The Greensboro News and Record picked up on the book and not only ran information on it, they were kind enough to interview me and one of my young partners in crime and cover model, Hailey, about the process of writing the book. I haven’t seen the story yet, but if it is half as fun as the interview we had, then it should be a great article!

Bookstore events:

I am currently booking signing events. My first one will be at Barnes & Noble in Greensboro , and another at Scuppernong Books April 6th. If you would like me to appear at your local bookstore, contact me! I’d love to see you!

I’ve had so many of you reach out to me asking for a signed copy, it’s just amazing to me! If in the event you can’t make it to one of the upcoming signings, I have set up a page for you to order signed copies of the book. Just follow the link here and I’ll be sure to get in your hands asap!

Conventions:

I am looking into conventions right now, but the big one I would love to be at is the Beaufort Pirate Invasion. It is a quickly growing festival in one of my favorite places in North Carolina. I’m in talks with them now, so I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

School events:

Local bookstores are currently lining up events at schools for me to come and talk to their kids about the art of writing and storytelling. Interest has been extremely high, especially since there has been such a large push not only for literacy in schools, they are also adopting programs to help with children’s writing skills as well and I am proud to be a supporter! I think it is a wonderful step in the right direction. Would you like me to appear at your school? If so, click here!

The Audiobook:

There will be two versions of Pirate Queen: Book of the Navigator. One read by the author (Me) and one read my Hailey Keller. Why two versions? Some people like a female reader, some like a male. I want to include everyone, though I will have to say that Hailey is doing an outstanding job of it! I can’t wait for you to hear it! Look for both versions to be out sometime next month.

Pirate Queen 2:

Book 2 is underway! It’s been slow going because of everything going on right now, but the work continues. From what I have so far, I have to say that I am incredibly excited about it. It should be fun!

Beta Readers:

I’m on the hunt for more beta readers! Would you like to help out? Sign up here!

That’s all for now! Now it’s back to work on the next book!

All the best,

H.N. Klett

Latest Read: The View from the Cheap Seats

I just finished up Neil Gaiman’s View from the Cheap Seats while on a trip and I have to say it was a wonderful companion. It is his collection of non-fiction such as his famous “Make Good Art” speech, articles he had written, even forwards to several books. The moods and subjects seemed to wonderfully match the varying topography as I traveled through the mountains with my wife.

Every story contains a splash of color, much like the fall trees I saw blurring by as my wife maniacally slung us around the narrow mountain passes, giggling all the way. It is worth your time to pick up and read, even if you aren’t taking a fall trip or careening off the side of a mountain. It’s just as good at home as it is on the road.
